Resident Wellness

Neurology resident wellbeing is a top priority at the University of Chicago. During your time in residency there are tons of opportunities to engage with your colleagues, the faculty, and the vibrant City of Chicago. We have an internal wellness committee that develops and sponsors social events throughout the year.  Recent highlights include our welcome barbecue picnic at the Program Director's home, routine resident happy hour events following Friday academic half day, annual PGY2 retreat, Fall Fest beer brewing event, Winter holiday party at an Associate Program Director's home, graduation reception sponsored by the Department Chair, Neurology house designations, resident-led yoga sessions, team-based fitness challenges, and many more. We are always looking for new ideas in this space.

Chicago is an unparalleled place to live, train, and work. Our residents live across many unique neighborhoods where they can explore the city after work and during days off. We are happy to share more about this with you.

The University of Chicago Medical Education Team also has an institutional trainee wellness committee that unites residents and fellows across specialties. Review additional wellness resources such as EAP and Resident Health Initiative through the UChicago Graduate Medical Education Resource page.
